Dec 18, 2016 - Lessons start at 10am sharp at the CNC

Dear Jackrabbits Families,

We will all be skiing at the Canmore Nordic Centre this weekend.

Skate Ski lessons will begin for all level 3 and 4s at 10:00 sharp. Please have all you gear with you and meet your coach and instructor at the North end of the lodge by the ski school meet sign. Rental gear is in short supply at the Nordic Centre so if you plan on renting skate gear there plan to arrive by 9:00. Gear can also be rented from U of C and other locations in Calgary. A separate email will be sent to all level 3 and 4 families confirming their level and informing them who their coaches will be. Any question related to the skate ski lessons this weekend can be directed to Bow Waters Jackrabbits at bwjackrabbits@gmail.com.

As this will be the first official club lesson I want to remind all levels that when we ski out of the Nordic Centre we meet in the stadium by the ski racks (closest to the door leading from our room in the lodge). Lessons start at 10:00 so please have all skis waxed and gear on and ready to go before then. Coaches will be starting to call out kids by level starting at 10:00 sharp, so please be at the afore mentioned meeting location at that time.

Thank you and happy skiing!
Christa and Ben Seaman

Recreational ski at Canmore Nordic Centre - Dec 11, 2016

If it's not the snow conditions, it's the temperature that's threatening to wreck this nordic ski party. So, with temperatures too low to host official lessons, we are once again going to head out for a club optional event with some of our instructors leading a recreational family ski; this time at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Dress warm. We'll stay close to the lodge so we can take "warm-up breaks"

  • Start time: Sunday, Dec. 11, 11 a.m. (we'll start later to give this side of the earth a few more minutes to heat up.)
  • Meeting location: The Canmore Nordic Centre. Trail fees are in effect so make sure to purchase your ticket at the lodge.

Dec 4, 2016 - Lessons cancelled

Unfortunately, Mother Nature is not cooperating, as there isn’t enough snow at Pocaterra, or any of our other ski locations for that matter, to host lessons this weekend. The snow is finally flying, so keep up your snow dances and fingers crossed for snow deep enough to set tracks for our Dec. 11 ski lesson.

We’ve heard there’s enough snow in Lake Louise, so some of us are heading out there instead. It’s a club optional event with some of our instructors leading a recreational family ski:

  • Start time: Meet between 10:00-10:30 a.m. and ski to noon-ish, Sunday, Dec. 4
  • Meeting location: Great Divide Trail parking lot. It’s on Lake Louise Drive, just past Moraine Lake Road, on the right side.
