Sheep
River Bicycle Tour -
Spring
The route is along a paved road (Hwy 546) in K-Country, west of
Turner Valley. It is closed to vehicles
until mid-May. There is gradual elevation gain for most of the
route, with one very big downhill and
uphill about 10 km along. The route is "out and back",
following the Sheep River for most of the way.
For younger children just starting to cycle, this is a great trip,
as there is a wide road to follow.
"Family Tour" protocol applies (parents are responsible
for their own children).
Options:
16 km return - to a lookout point and interpretive
trail
32 km return - to Sheep Falls - very scenic!
40 km return - to end of paved road
Dress warmly. It's been quite chilly in past years,
even when it is warm in Calgary.
Driving time is about one hour 15 minutes from downtown
Calgary. The road is blocked by a gate.
Parks staff ask that we do not park in front of the
gate.
